Xiaoli Chen · 陈小立

Co-founder of Semantify — after a decade in open research infrastructure at DataCite, CERN, and the wider open science community. I help architect and implement practical open sharing workflows across the full research project lifecycle, with equal care for domain specificity and metadata interoperability. Through June 2026, wrapping up the FAIR Workflows project at DataCite.

DataCite

Project Lead

Leading a ~$1M USD FAIR Workflows grant across seven international partners, coordinating 38 deliverables from publications to technical implementations. Representing DataCite in the wider open infrastructure ecosystem.

Grant leadership
Managed project milestones across distributed teams; tracked reuse of research outputs to inform impact measurement; developed training materials for PID adoption.
Community engagement
Represented DataCite at 20+ conferences. Chair, RDA PIDs in Tools IG. Co-chair, DataCite APAC Expert Group. FORCE11 summer school instructor. Lead for Registered Service Providers Program (17 partners).
Service development

CERN

Researcher / Doctoral Student

Studied the information behaviour of the high-energy physics community through semi-structured interviews and large-scale surveys. Redesigned the information architecture of the CERN Open Data portal and prototyped features for CERN Analysis Preservation. Contributed PID landscape research to the EU-funded THOR project; outputs fed into doctoral research on engaging scientists in Open Science practice.
